Pass It On! Mentored Youth Turkey Hunts (Grant County)
Description
Matching caring adults with a passion for the outdoors with youth who want to learn about the outdoors - that's what the Pass It On-Outdoor Mentors program is about in a nutshell.
We are passionate about equipping the next generation with outdoor opportunities through mentorship. Any youth interested in getting involved in the outdoors can participate with us as many times as they want. All our events are free. We find access for hunting, fishing, and shooting sports, line up vetted volunteer mentors to lead these opportunities, and communicate with all parties about the details of the event.
Youth must be between the ages of 10 and 18 years.
Hunter Education certification is required for youth.
A trusted adult must accompany the youth hunter for the duration of the hunt.
Please purchase a Wisconsin Zone 1 Period E Turkey Harvest Authorization through the youth's Go Wild account.
Location: Meet near Potosi, Wis. Exact hunt location will be sent after sign-up.
These wild turkey hunts will take place on private land. Hunting may take place inside or outside of a blind, with the possibility of moving to different locations throughout the day. Upon arrival, the mentor will make introductions and lead a safety briefing before the group travels to the hunting area. The hunt will continue until the youth hunter harvests a turkey or the mentor or youth decides they are finished hunting for the day.
These hunts are designed to be a fun, safe, and educational outdoor experience. Youth and parents should arrive between 5 and 6 a.m. and be ready to be outdoors for 4-6 hours. Full camouflage for turkey hunting is needed. If you have your own shotgun you are welcome to use it, otherwise mentors commonly have one you can borrow for the hunt.
Registration is required. Youth may sign up for as many hunts as they'd like. To register, follow the links below:
