Forest Recovery: the Challenge of Invasive Species

-

Description

As Wisconsin highlights Invasive Species Weekend, join park volunteers and master naturalists Maureen and Tom Flatley as they hike into the area of Newport that was devastated by a straight line windstorm in August of 2025. You’ll see firsthand not only what forest recovery looks like, but also the challenges that invasive species play in the ongoing recovery process. This will be a 3-mile hike. Terrain will be rough in places, with tripping hazards like rocks, roots, downed tree branches and loose debris. Meet at Lot 3 by the gate. No pets please.

This event is weather-dependent.
