Forest Recovery: The Challenge of Invasive Species

Join Park volunteer master naturalists Maureen and Tom Flatley as they hike into the area of Newport that was devastated by a straight-line windstorm in August 2025. You’ll see firsthand not only what forest recovery looks like, but also the challenges that invasive species play in the ongoing recovery process.

Meet at Lot 3 by the gate. This will be a 3-mile hike. Terrain will be rough in places, with tripping hazards like rocks, roots, downed tree branches and loose debris. No pets please.
