5th Annual Women’s Habitat Workday

-

Description

Wisconsin Pheasants Forever is excited to partner again with the Wisconsin DNR for our 5th annual women's habitat work event! Join us at Ridgeway Pine Relict State Natural Area for a great opportunity to learn about small engines, herbicide use and other habitat management techniques in grasslands and oak woodlands in a supportive environment, or to simply have a great time improving public lands habitat with a group of hardworking women. Hang out on site for some post-event networking and conservation conversations.

Activities: Opportunity to learn about techniques and equipment used for habitat restoration and management, including:

  • Brush Saw operation
  • Chainsaw operation
  • Herbicide use
  • Brush Pile burning (if enough snow)
  • Look at current habitat improvement projects

Things to Bring: Expect to do some walking off-trail, physical activity, and wear clothes that can be beaten up. Tools will be provided. Good items to bring are drinking water, gloves, and safety glasses if you have them. Some will be available for use on-site as well. Some snacks and beverages will be provided. A bathroom will be available.

We welcome women, female-identifying and non-binary people to join us. Registration in advance is preferred but not required. Event directions and parking information will be emailed to participants in advance. Register.

This event is weather-dependent.
