Summer Candlelight Hike

Here’s your chance to spend a summer’s eve along the shores of Lake Michigan. Bring your friends and family to the park to enjoy a self-guided hike along the cordwalk & beach. Torches will light the way along the cordwalk between parking lots 3 and 5 and along the beach. This hike is 3 miles round-trip and includes walking on a sandy beach and on a wooden boardwalk surface over low hills. No pets or strollers, please! 

The Sanderling Nature Center will be open from 8-10:30 p.m. Dress for the weather; your feet may get wet along the beach. Consider bringing a flashlight or camera. Start and finish at the Sanderling Nature Center or at the South Beach parking lot P6. Park in lots P3, P4, P5 or P6. Bathrooms and a water fountain are available near the Indoor Shelter. A Vehicle Admission pass is required and can be purchased online or at the Park Office upon arrival.

This event is weather-dependent and will be canceled if there is rain.
