First Day Hike at Newport State Park

If spending more time outdoors is one of your 2026 resolutions, start the year off right by joining Newport Wilderness Society volunteers this New Year’s Day for a family friendly hike. We’ll be hiking the Fern Trail, a 1.2 mi. easy trail. Those wanting more of a challenge can add in the Lynd Point loop, making it a 2.5 mi hike over more rugged terrain. All are invited to meet around the fire by the shelter building afterward for hot cocoa and cookies.
