Description

Join us for an Open House at the Root River Steelhead Facility in Racine on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This free event will be held rain or shine. We’re offering guided tours of the Root River Steelhead Facility, live fish spawning demonstrations, and loads of hands-on activities for all ages. Don’t miss the Touch of the Wild education trailer, fly casting lessons, and the backyard bass casting game – perfect for young anglers in the making! There will also be a Lake Michigan fishing boat on display with a skilled captain on hand to answer questions. Come watch our skilled craftsmen provide a fly-tying demonstration, where you can learn how these intricate lures are made. You’ll also have a chance to meet representatives from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Mass Marking program and Root River Council. Whether you’re a seasoned angler, a nature enthusiast, or looking for a unique and educational outing with the family, this event has something for everyone. We can’t wait to see you there!
