Learn To Hunt Raccoons With Hounds
Description
Did you know? George Washington is often credited with owning some of the very first coonhounds in America. Whether fact or legend, this is a reminder of how deep this tradition runs.
If you've ever thought about becoming a raccoon hound hunter, or want to experience this heritage firsthand, join Wisconsin Backwoods Hunters and Anglers for our second annual "Learn to Raccoon Hunt with Hounds" event!
To register, go to Go Wild and log in or create an account if you don't already have one. Click on the Manage Safety Education tab, click "Search for Class," and select "Learn to Hunt" as Course Type and "Jefferson" as County in the drop-down tabs. Register with your Customer ID number.
Location: Public land in Jefferson County
Fee: $20 (cash only, paid at event check-in)
Before heading out, we'll meet at McMiller Sports Center for required firearms safety and training. As dusk approaches, gather with us at the public land parking area to meet the hounds, their handlers, and enjoy burgers and brats before the hunt begins.
Note: Participants must have the appropriate Wisconsin hunting license.
Come out, learn the tradition and experience the thrill of hunting with hounds!
