Bird Banding Demonstration
Description
Join us as part of our Mammoths to Marsh event for a Bird Banding Demonstration at the Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center.
Licensed Master Bander Jana Gedymin, research manager at Riveredge Nature Center, and a team of skilled volunteers will be joining us at Horicon Marsh as they demonstrate songbird capture and banding techniques. Observers will see how birds are carefully examined during the banding process, learn why this data is collected and get an up-close look at the many species that stop at the marsh during migration.
This is a fantastic opportunity to see birds up close and learn more about the fascinating science behind bird banding. This will be an ongoing demonstration, so stop in anytime between 8 and 11 a.m., but remember, the early bird gets the worm!
The Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center is located at N7725 Highway 28, Horicon, WI.
