Monroe County Antlerless Field To Fork
Description
The National Deer Association is proud to offer an amazing opportunity for new and prospective hunters to get afield for the first time with skilled and experienced deer hunters in a one-on-one hunting scenario.
After completing the required range day and other prerequisites, hunters will be paired with a skilled deer hunting mentor and/or landowner. Camping will be available during the hunt weekend.
Prerequisites To Be Completed Prior To Hunting
- Hunter’s Education – Free code provided for those who have not taken the course.
- Deer Hunting 101 Online Course – Free code will be provided to all students.
Note: Completion of the prerequisites and attendance at range day and virtual course are required to hunt.
Meeting Dates/Agenda
Sept. 21 – Range Day – Columbia County DNR Shooting Range
- 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Oct. 3-5 – Hunt Weekend in Monroe County
Oct. 3
- Set up camp
- Meet mentors and landowners
- Scout for morning hunt
- Welcome Dinner
Oct. 4
- Morning hunt
- Mid-day butchering workshop (depending on morning success)
- Naps and Lunch
- Afternoon hunt
Oct. 5
- Morning hunt for those who have not yet harvested
Materials Provided
- Rifle (Savage 110 6.5 Creedmoor/Vortex 3-9x40 scope)
- Ammo
- Legal orange requirements (vest and hat)
- Two meals at camp weekend
- Camping site
- A one-month OnX membership
- Licenses and tags (covers only this hunt, no other hunting activities)
