The National Deer Association is proud to offer an amazing opportunity for new and prospective hunters to get afield for the first time with skilled and experienced deer hunters in a one-on-one hunting scenario.

After completing the required range day and other prerequisites, hunters will be paired with a skilled deer hunting mentor and/or landowner. Camping will be available during the hunt weekend.

Prerequisites To Be Completed Prior To Hunting

• Hunter’s Education – Free code provided for those who have not taken the course.
• Deer Hunting 101 Online Course – Free code will be provided to all students.

Note: Completion of the prerequisites and attendance at range day and virtual course are required to hunt.

Meeting Dates/Agenda
Sept. 21 – Range Day – Columbia County DNR Shooting Range

• 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Oct. 3-5 – Hunt Weekend in Monroe County
Oct. 3

• Set up camp
• Meet mentors and landowners
• Scout for morning hunt
• Welcome Dinner

Oct. 4

• Morning hunt
• Mid-day butchering workshop (depending on morning success)
• Naps and Lunch
• Afternoon hunt

Oct. 5

• Morning hunt for those who have not yet harvested

Materials Provided 

• Rifle (Savage 110 6.5 Creedmoor/Vortex 3-9x40 scope)
• Ammo
• Legal orange requirements (vest and hat)
• Two meals at camp weekend
• Camping site
• A one-month OnX membership
• Licenses and tags (covers only this hunt, no other hunting activities)
