Learn to Hunt Waterfowl - Burnett County
Description
This course is intended as an introduction for adults looking to acquire the skills to ethically hunt ducks and geese in Wisconsin. It is a joint venture between the Wisconsin Waterfowl Association and Pheasants Forever.
After arrival at Duck Camp at Crex Meadows Friday evening (October 24), you'll meet your classmates while enjoying a wild game potluck and getting to experience duck hunting gear like calls and decoys in a hands-on setting. Saturday morning will begin with a camp breakfast and trap shooting, plus a review of duck ID, before heading out in the afternoon with your mentor to a local marsh. Dinner will be buffet style in camp, and we will turn in early Saturday so we can hunt at dawn Sunday.
After the Sunday morning hunt, we will return to Crex to clean our birds and our shotguns and pack up.
All supplies (including decoys, shotguns, and ammo) as well as basic food will be included. Participants will need to have their hunter safety certification, as well as state and federal waterfowl stamps, a goose permit, and small game license. The cost for this class is $50 payable in cash or a check made out to "Pheasants Forever Wisconsin."
Hunting will be at Crex Meadows Wildlife Area and other wildlife areas in Burnett County.
