Join a retired soil scientist and his trusty auger to discover the hidden stories buried in the glacial soils of the Steinke Basin landscape. We’ll use the auger to travel through time and examine the soil layers.

Learn how basic soil properties influence the nutrients and water available to plants, and discover how plants growing in these soils play an important role in keeping our groundwater clean. Come and expect to experience a world not commonly seen. This hike is best for teenagers and adults.
