Columbia County Scouting Workshop
Description
Many new hunters are excited to explore public lands but find the idea intimidating, especially when hunting near metro areas. Questions like “Where can I go?”, “Is this spot safe?” and “How do I even begin scouting?” often prevent people from taking that first step. This program is designed to bridge that gap by providing a safe, supportive introduction to navigating and hunting public land, with a special emphasis on practical skills and digital tools.
This 3-hour, field-based class is intended for small groups, particularly friends who want to learn and hunt together. Participants will not only gain confidence in finding and accessing public land but also receive hands-on experience scouting, identifying stand locations and setting up gear. We will go over different filters that can help you determine good hunting locations, walk to those hunting locations and talk about where, when and why to set up in specific spots.
Even if you do not have an OnX subscription, please come to the event with a fully charged device with OnX downloaded. Anybody without OnX will be provided a free 6-month trial OnX subscription.
