Learn to Hunt Deer with Driftless Whitetails

This program is for youth aged 10 – 17 and their adult chaperones. An application is required to be selected to attend this workshop.

Successful applicants and their chaperones are required to attend a pre-hunt workshop to prepare youth participants for a safe, respectful and enjoyable hunting experience. This session includes presentations from Wisconsin DNR staff and experienced mentors. Topics will cover the history and purpose of the program, hunting safety, proper conduct, taxidermy, shot placement and what to expect before, during and after the hunt. The day will wrap up with target practice and hands-on preparation.

Hunting will take place Sept. 20 and 21. Successful applicants will receive an email confirmation of selection, a private land whitetail deer hunt chaperoned by a Driftless Whitetails Mentor, use of firearms and ammunition, free blaze orange and vest, free learn to hunt deer tag and deer processing.

In-person instruction will take place at Arcadia Sportsman's Club (Locomotive Road, Arcadia, WI, 54612). Hunting will take place on private lands in Buffalo and Trempealeau counties.
