Discovering Bumble Bees
-
Description
We have nearly 500 species of bees in Wisconsin, around 20 of which are bumble bees. We are even lucky enough to be home to a federally endangered species, the Rusty-Patched Bumble Bee!
Join Jade Kochanski, pollinator ecologist with the University of Wisconsin-Madison, for an engaging presentation and guided hike to look for and practice identifying bumble bees. Hear about native flowers preferred by bumble bees and how park management practices affect them. Wear appropriate footwear and dress for the weather. Please bring a hat, sunscreen and binoculars, but limit insect repellent use.
Meet at the amphitheater. The event is free, but a vehicle admission pass is required.
