Invasive Species Awareness Weekend: Invasive Insect, Disease And Plant Hike

Join DNR Forest Health and Parks staff on Invasive Species Awareness Weekend for a one-mile hike at Lake Kegonsa State Park to learn about insects, diseases and plants causing tree health issues.
We’ll highlight a recent black locust removal project to restore native trees and prairie. We’ll be hiking on trails and mowed, grassy areas. Bathrooms are available at the start/end location by the beach and by the group camp.
Meet at the beach parking lot.
This event is recommended for all abilities and ages; please leave pets at home. Dress according to the weather on the day of; long pants are recommended. Consider bringing close-toe walking/hiking shoes, sunscreen, a hat, bug spray and a water bottle.
A Vehicle Admission Pass is required for entry and can be purchased online or at the Park Office upon arrival.
