Bluff Country Longspurs Chapter NWTF Learn to Hunt Turkeys
Description
The Bluff Country Longspurs Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) invites you to a hands-on Learn to Hunt Turkey program. The program includes both an instructional clinic and one-on-one mentored hunting.
This educational event is perfect for those new to turkey hunting or looking to enhance their skills in a welcoming, informative environment.
Instructional Clinic: Saturday, April 5, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Bridgeport Fire Station (63176 Vineyard Road, Prairie du Chien, WI 53821).
Mentored Hunting: Sunday, April 6, 5 a.m. – noon. Meet with your mentor at approximately 5 a.m. each morning. Hunting takes place on private lands in Crawford and Grant counties.
What You'll Learn
- Turkey biology and history in Wisconsin.
- Hunting tactics and fundamentals, including safety, regulations and gear.
- Calling techniques: Instructors will demonstrate turkey calling techniques.
- Q&A: Ask questions and get advice from seasoned turkey hunters.
- Range time: Pattern your shotgun before hunting.
- Hunt: Go hunting with an experienced turkey hunter who can help you apply skills and gain hands-on experience.
