Are you ready to experience the thrill of turkey hunting? The Gitchee Gumme Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation is excited to offer a hands-on “Learn to Hunt Turkeys” event for novice hunters! This is your chance to gain valuable knowledge, practice skills and prepare for a successful turkey hunting season.

The class will start with a classroom session on March 15 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Amnicon Town Hall (8985 E. US Highway 2, South Range, WI 54874), and the hunt will occur on April 5 and 6.

Whether you’ve never hunted before or are looking to refine your skills, this event will guide you through the essentials, including:

  • Turkey hunting safety and ethical practices
  • Equipment: How to choose and use calls, decoys and other gear
  • Wild turkey biology: Understanding turkey behavior, habitat and patterns
  • Scouting and finding turkey hotspots: Tips on where and when to hunt
  • Shot placement and techniques: A focus on humane and effective harvest methods

The day will include interactive workshops, expert-led demonstrations and practical exercises, all set in an immersive, natural environment. You’ll also have the opportunity to network with other turkey hunters and receive valuable insights from seasoned pros.
