Wisconsin Backcountry Hunters & Anglers invites you to a hands-on Learn to Hunt Turkey program. The program includes a virtual instructional clinic, shooting range instruction and target practice, and a one-on-one mentored hunt. This educational event is perfect for those new to turkey hunting or looking to enhance their skills in a welcoming, informative environment.
- Virtual Instructional Clinic: Wednesday, April 2, 7 – 9 p.m.
- Shooting Range Instruction & Target Practice: Saturday, April 5, 8 –11 a.m., Location: Private Range in La Farge
- Mentored Hunting: April 5 (afternoon) & 6 (all day); meet with your mentor at approximately 5 a.m., Location: Kickapoo Valley Reserve
What You'll Learn
Turkey hunting basics: Learn the fundamentals of turkey hunting, including safety, regulations and gear essentials.
Calling techniques: Instructors will demonstrate turkey calling techniques to help you attract wild turkeys.
Field experience: Gain practical tips on scouting, setting up your hunting location, and working with decoys.
Q&A: Ask questions and get advice from seasoned turkey hunters and NWTF experts.
Hunt: Go hunting with an experienced turkey hunter who can help you apply skills and gain hands-on experience.
Whether you're looking to start your turkey hunting journey or improve your skills, this class offers a great opportunity to connect with experienced hunters.
How To Register
Spaces are limited to the first eight participants, so register early to secure your spot. To register, go to Go Wild and log in or create an account if you don't already have one. Click on the Manage Safety Education tab, click "Search for Class" and select "Learn to Hunt" as Course Type and "Vernon" as County in the drop-down tabs. Register with your Customer ID number.
