Women's Learn to Turkey Hunt

-

Description

This is a multi-part course intended for women who have little or no experience hunting wild turkey. It will be conducted as part of Pheasants Forever's Women on the Wing program held at Crex Meadows Wildlife Area in northwest Wisconsin.

Participants will need to attend an evening virtual class on Wednesday, April 9. Instruction will continue upon arrival at camp Friday evening, April 11, with a gear demonstration to be held after a Wild Game Dinner, and continue Saturday morning, April 12, with practice shotgun-shooting at a stationary target. Hunting and scouting with a mentor will take place Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. Departure will be Sunday, April 13, at noon.

Hunters and, whenever possible, mentors and instructors, will be women, and the class environment is supportive and encouraging. All equipment, including firearms and ammunition (as well as mentors), will be provided. There are no license or stamp requirements, and residents and nonresidents may register. You must be 18 years or older and have earned your hunter safety certificate.

To register, visit Go Wild and log in or create an account if you don’t already have one. Click on the Manage Safety Education tab, click “Search for Class,” and select "Learn to Hunt” as Course Type and “Burnett” as County in the drop-down tabs. Register with your Customer ID number.

Interested participants with limited mobility are asked to contact the event organizer about accessibility options in advance of the event.

The cost for this class is $50 payable in cash upon arrival to Crex Meadows Wildlife Area.

Please notify the instructor if you can no longer attend. A substantial waitlist is expected for this class.
