Learn To Process Venison

-

Description

This "Learn to Hunt" class focuses on the hunting-related skill of deer butchering. This class will provide those interested in a demonstration of skinning, quartering and breaking down quarters into basic cuts. You will have the chance to participate actively, so dress accordingly.

Once processed, we will wrap the meat in a freezer-proof barrier. All supplies will be provided, and participants can go home with some fresh venison.

Other topics that will be covered include Chronic Wasting Disease, best cooking methods for different cuts of venison, how much fat and tendon to trim away, knife sharpening, aging meat and other topics as they come up in class.

This class is as useful to beginners who want to process their first deer as it is to veteran deer hunters who have never tried their hand at deer processing.

Not only does deer processing save the household money, but it also allows custom cuts and amounts to be packed and ensures that the deer you are eating is the deer you harvested.

The instructor, John Motoviloff, works for Pheasants Forever, teaching hunting classes throughout Wisconsin and is a cookbook author and expert at cooking wild game.

While this cost is being offered FREE OF CHARGE, the Wisconsin DNR and Pheasants Forever have invested substantial resources in the staff and materials to conduct it. Please notify the instructor if you signed up and can no longer attend. There is a substantial waitlist for this class.
