Lizard Mound Walk
Description
Join the natural resource educator on the longest day of the year to tour the cultural landscape of Lizard Mound. It is one of the most well-preserved Native American effigy mound sites in the nation with 28 conical, linear and effigy mounds. Hear a brief history of the site and its people while traversing through the sacred grounds and learning the significance of each mound shape.
This hike is about 1 mile on level grass and crushed rock tread.
Consider bringing water and insect repellant. Well water and a portable restroom are available onsite. Poison ivy is prevalent, so consider long pants and closed-toe shoes.
Preregistration is required. Call 920-533-8322 to register. Limit 12.
The program will be canceled if extreme weather or unsafe trail conditions arise.
A vehicle admission pass is required.
