Learn to Backpack

Description

New to traversing on the open trail? Join us for helpful tips and tricks on backpacking before heading out to hike the Ice Age National Scenic Trail to a nearby reservable backpack shelter. This hike is a moderately challenging 3 miles out and back with grass tread.

Meet at the Mauthe Lake Recreation Area pet picnic and bike trail parking lot. 

We recommend bringing water, insect repellent, sturdy hiking shoes and a hiking pole.

The program will be canceled if extreme weather or unsafe trail conditions arise.

A vehicle admission pass is required.
