Details

Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) staff and the County Deer Advisory Councils of Oconto and Shawano counties will host a public meeting regarding the status of chronic wasting disease (CWD) and a response plan for sampling wild deer in Oconto and Shawano counties.

In January, a white-tailed buck tested positive for CWD in the Town of Underhill in Oconto County. To better understand the prevalence and distribution of the disease in Oconto and Shawano counties, the DNR will be sampling additional deer in the area. In partnership with County Deer Advisory Council members, DNR staff will discuss disease surveillance options in response to the detection of chronic wasting disease in Oconto and Shawano counties.

DNR staff will be in attendance to provide information about the results of recent local CWD testing efforts and discuss sampling goals for this coming season. The public is invited to give comments during the meeting.

More information on CWD in Wisconsin can be found on the DNR website.

Join this meeting by Zoom.
