The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources will hold a public hearing on a permanent rule to revise ch. NR 64, Wis. Adm. Code, relating to all-terrain vehicles and utility terrain vehicles. The proposed rule does the following:
- Creates two exceptions to the visible light percentage requirements in s. NR 64.07(8) (bm) for utility terrain vehicles manufactured prior to March 1, 2027, and for individuals who have a medical exemption which is consistent with medical exemptions for motor vehicle window tint found in s. Trans 305.32 (4) (b) 3.
- Creates two additional operating rules in s. NR 64.07, Wis. Adm. Code, which would prohibit the use of intoxicants and the possession of any bottle or receptacle containing an intoxicant while operating an all-terrain vehicle or utility terrain vehicle.
- Allows the use of turning or stop signals given by hand and arm, in lieu of or in addition to signals by signal lamp, consistent with the requirements for motor vehicles found in ss. 346.34 and 346.35, Wis. Stats.
The rule may be reviewed and comments may be made on the DNR's Proposed Permanent Administrative Rules webpage under NRB Order Number LE-06-26.
