Join us at the Great Lakes Areas of Concern Conference in Green Bay Sept. 12-14. The event is co-sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Great Lakes National Program Office and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Office of Great Waters, in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay.
The conference will bring together federal, tribal, state and local agency officials, as well as businesses, university researchers, community organizations and citizen-led groups from across the entire eight-state Great Lakes region to explore current issues and discuss efforts to accelerate cleanup and restoration of the remaining Areas of Concern within the Great Lakes basin — the largest system of fresh surface water in the world.
The event is also an opportunity for participants to build connections and share ideas about advancing the goals outlined in the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative Action Plan.
Activities to help participants learn, share and connect include tours, introductory workshops, a wide array of presentations, exhibits, poster sessions and fun networking opportunities.

Wisconsin Invasive Species Council Fall Quarterly Meeting

The Wisconsin Invasive Species Council will hold their fall quarterly meeting. They will hear final recommendations on phragmites (Phragmites australis non-native ecotype) and Chameleon Plant (Houttuynia cordata) from the Aquatic Species Assessment Group. They will determine the next steps for presenting Council recommendations to the DNR. They'll hear an update on Organisms in Trade efforts by the DNR and updates from Council members.
