This is a public meeting of the Landfill Standards and Solid Waste Fees Rulemaking Advisory Committee. The Advisory Committee meeting agenda includes:

  • Introductions and overview of the committee charter
  • Review of rulemaking goals and draft administrative code changes so far
  • Results and discussion of committee priorities survey
  • Plans for next committee discussions on alternative landfill liner design and other priority topics

Anyone is welcome to attend the meeting, but because of time constraints, public participation in discussions will be limited, and priority will be given to Advisory Committee members and DNR. Additional public comments are welcome before or after the meeting and may be provided to committee members or to Kate Strom Hiorns, Recycling and Solid Waste Section Chief.

Details 

The DNR is hosting four public meetings to present information and gather public feedback on the Lake Michigan lake trout population. The Lake Michigan lake trout commercial harvest stakeholder group, which consists of commercial fishers, anglers, charter fishers, wholesale fish dealers, restaurants and others interested in the Lake Michigan fishery, will be in attendance at each public meeting.  

This third meeting will focus on Lake Trout Population and Forecast Models.

Additional opportunities to provide input on and learn about Lake Michigan’s lake trout population will take place at Lakeshore Technical College’s Lake Michigan conference room on:

  • Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at 6 p.m. focused on Working Group Discussion and Input

The DNR’s RR Program oversees the investigation and cleanup of environmental contamination and the redevelopment of contaminated properties. The DNR has a business need to receive constructive and practical input from, and provide information to, interested parties on a wide variety of regulatory and policy issues.

The RR EAG was formed to address a broad range of issues encompassing both technical and policy topics related to encouraging the investigation, cleanup and redevelopment of contaminated sites.

This public hearing will focus on DNR-proposed changes to fishing regulations on inland, outlying and boundary waters (the 2023 Fisheries Management Spring Hearing rule). This rule would apply fishing regulations to certain waters of the state to accomplish management goals. The annual Spring Hearing questionnaire is the main method for providing public input on the proposed regulation changes statewide.
