Preliminary Public Hearing On Statement Of Scope SS 043-26 Relating To Wolf Depredation Claims, NR 12
Date: 07/30/2026
Time: 2:00 p.m. - End of Agenda
Location: Virtual
Scott Karel, Scottr.Karel@wisconsin.gov or 608-206-0222
This is a preliminary public hearing on statement of scope SS 043-26, related to wolf depredation claims and affecting ch. NR 12. This scope statement will be used for both an emergency rule, Board Order NH-10-26(E), and a permanent rule, Board Order NH-11-26.
This statement of scope proposes rule changes to create a process for how wolf depredation claims will be paid when the statutorily identified funding sources are insufficient to fully cover all claims for the entire fiscal year. These rules may set limits on the maximum amount each claimant may receive, establish a system for prioritizing claims according to type and authorize the proration of payments when claims are expected to exceed available funds.
The statement of scope and hearing notice may be viewed online.
Comments may be submitted until 11:59 p.m. on July 30, 2026, to: Scottr.Karel@wisconsin.gov or DNRAdministrativeRulesComments@wisconsin.gov. Materials may also be viewed and comments submitted.
