Franklin Lake Walleye Rehabilitation Project

This is a public meeting on an upcoming walleye spawning reef project on Franklin Lake.
This meeting will discuss the results of a 2025 comprehensive survey of Franklin Lake and the changes that have been documented in the fishery over the past 50 years. The majority of this meeting will focus on the walleye population, which was once strong but has been below what is considered a “fishable” level over the past 20 years.
Public input will be sought on this proposed project, which will be constructed along U.S. Forest Service property to help rehabilitate the walleye population.

The Off-Road Vehicle Council provides advice and makes recommendations to the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the Department of Transportation, the governor and the legislature on all matters relating to all-terrain vehicle trails and all-terrain vehicle routes. This includes issues relating to activities conducted on all-terrain vehicle trails and all-terrain vehicle routes by all-terrain vehicle users and utility terrain vehicle users, and makes recommendations to the DNR about requests for funding.
This meeting's primary focus is to review grant applications and make recommendations to the DNR. The public will be invited to join the meeting via Zoom or in person. The Zoom meeting link, agenda and other meeting materials are available on the ORV Council webpage.

Contested Case Hearing Concerning S&L Ford

Hearings and Appeals will hold a contested case hearing on the above-captioned matter pursuant to Wis. Stat. § 227.44, Wis. Admin. Code § NR 2.13 and Wis. Admin. Code § HA 1.12 at the Green Bay State Office Building, 200 North Jefferson Street, Green Bay, Wisconsin on Aug. 18, 2025, in Room 152A, and continuing if necessary on Aug. 19, 2025, in Room 152A, commencing at 9 a.m. each day.
Members of the public desiring to participate in this hearing pursuant to Wis. Admin. Code § NR 2.08 will be allowed the opportunity to do so at the end of the presentation of evidence. Such interested persons must enter an appearance either prior to or at the commencement of the contested case hearing. Information about the hearing may be found at the DNR’s website and can also be requested from Susan Burns at 608-266-3865. Please monitor the Department website for updates.
The hearing is a Class 1 contested case pursuant to Wis. Stat. § 227.01(3)(a), and the provisions of Wis. Stat. ch. 227 will apply. The procedures relating to contested cases set forth in Wis. Admin. Code ch. NR 2 will be followed. Said procedures will closely resemble those that are normally followed at a trial in State circuit court. All parties are advised that they have the right to seek the aid and assistance of legal counsel and to be represented by legal counsel at the contested case hearing.
The exemption request and other information relating to this matter are on file and may be inspected and copied at the offices of the Department of Natural Resources, 101 South Webster Street, Madison, Wisconsin, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, holidays excepted. Reasonable costs will be charged for copies of all information excluding public notices and fact sheets.
