Wolf River Trout Angler Diary

Angler wading in the Wolf River in Langlade County Wisconsin

Wolf River Trout Anglers...We need your help!

The Wolf River in Langlade County is a large, wild and scenic trout river that is very difficult to sample with traditional stream and raft shocking gear. Many rapids are next to impossible to wade or navigate, but they offer some of the better trout habitats and can be very productive areas to fish. Because this 35-mile stretch of river can be difficult to sample, we'd like to enlist anglers to help gather trout fishing information through the creation of the Wolf River Trout Angler Diary program.

The diary program will allow participating anglers to share their daily trout fishing experiences on the Wolf River in Langlade County by recording the numbers and sizes of trout caught and harvested. Angler trout fishing experiences are the main focus of the diary but catches of smallmouth bass or other species may also be reported. Report only fishing trips where trout were the main target, regardless of any fish being caught. (Information from poor fishing days is just as important as information from those great fishing days you’ll hopefully remember forever!) We are hoping that the diary program will help to collectively manage this important and incredibly beautiful and wild resource into the future!
