Southeast Region Urban Fishing Program information

Urban fishing waters are small lakes and ponds under 25 acres that are intensively and cooperatively managed with a municipality. They are posted with signs, have special regulations, and have shorelines that are accessible to the public. Please read these signs carefully to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

Special regulations on designated urban waters in the DNR Southeast Region include:

  • a year-round season;
  • no length limits; and
  • a special season for juveniles 15 years of age and younger and certain disabled anglers only (refer to the fishing regulations handbook for current dates).

They also have a daily bag limit of:

  • three (3) trout (Note: inland trout stamp needed for anglers 16 years of age and older);
  • one (1) gamefish (largemouth and smallmouth bass, walleye, sauger, and northern pike); and
  • ten (10) panfish (bluegill, crappie, pumpkinseed, yellow perch, and bullhead).

Current fish stocking and regulation information is available from Feb. 15 through Nov. 15 on the 24-hour urban waters fishing hotline at 414-263-8494 or toll free at 1-888-347-4563.
