Green Bay West Shores Wildlife Area

Sensiba Unit is a 570-acre property in Brown County. Find it between Sunset Beach Road and Resort Road on the north side of the Suamico River. There are parking areas on both roads. From Green Bay, take Highway 41/141 north to the County B exit. Take County B to County J. Go south on County J to Sunset Beach Road or north on County J to Resort Road.

Sensiba has coastal marshes along the shore of Green Bay. Inland areas are wooded with a mixture of bottomland hardwoods, oak, aspen and cottonwood. Some former agricultural fields are a mix of shrubs and grasses.

Management objective

The first purchase of land in the Green Bay West Shore Wildlife Area occurred in the Sensiba Unit in 1948. Development of an impoundment for waterfowl production took place in the winter of 1959-60. Major work on the dike took place in 1996.

Today, forest management is conducted on the unit. Control of invasive species in the wetlands is a continuing activity in this and other units of the Green Bay West Shore Wildlife Area.

Many recreational opportunities exist at the Sensiba Unit.
