    DNR Awards Brownfields Grant Valued Up To $35,000 To City Of Portage

    The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) awarded a grant from the Wisconsin Assessment Monies (WAM) program to the city of Portage. The WAM program provides contractor services for environmental assessment worth up to $35,000 for eligible sites. The DNR awarded the grant to the city of Portage for a property in the city’s downtown that has been abandoned and left to the elements since 2018.

    Elevated PFAS Levels Found In Ditch Downstream Of JCI/Tyco

    Today, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) received analytical sample results from surface water monitoring conducted in July by Johnson Controls, Inc.     New Restrictions On PFAS-Containing Firefighting Foams Effective Sept. 1

    2019 Wisconsin Act 101, published on Feb. 6, 2020 and codified in Wisconsin Statutes section 299.48, implements measures that mitigate the discharge of PFAS-containing firefighting foam into the environment, and in doing so supports efforts by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and fire departments to protect the health and safety of Wisconsin residents and the firefighting community.

    DNR Publishes Results Of Firefighting Department PFAS Survey

    As requested by Gov. Tony Evers in the 2019-2021 Biennial Budget, the DNR conducted a survey of the state's fire departments to determine their use of PFAS-containing, or fluorinated, firefighting foams. This survey was designed to help the DNR better understand how much, how often and why fluorinated foam is used across Wisconsin.

    Final Year Of West Nile Virus Monitoring To Conclude This Fall

    In collaboration with the Minnesota and Michigan Departments of Natural Resources, the Ruffed Grouse Society and Wisconsin Conservation Congress, the Wisconsin Department of Natural resources will conduct the third and final year of sampling in a multi-year monitoring program this fall looking at West Nile virus (WNV) in ruffed grouse.
