County Forest Variable Acreage Share Loan

Counties with lands enrolled in the County Forest Law are eligible to apply for interest free loans to be used for the purchase, development, preservation and maintenance of the county forest lands. Projects must be consistent with the county forest comprehensive land use plan (15 year plan).

Who can apply

Counties having lands enrolled under the County Forest Law, s. 28.10, Wis. Stats. [exit DNR] and s. 28.11, Wis. Stats. [exit DNR].

Eligibility

Eligible projects can be anything tied to the purchase, development, preservation or maintenance of the county forest. Projects must be consistent with the county forest comprehensive land use plan (15 year plan).

Deadlines

Awarded on a fiscal year basis. Application materials are due Dec. 31. Awards are made no later than March 31. Repayment of loans is through each county's forestry fund account via a 20 percent severance assessment on completed timber sale volumes.
