County Forest Administration Grant

Any county employing a County Forest Administrator can receive up to 50 percent of its employee’s annual salary and fringe benefit costs (limited to 40% of salary).

Who can apply

Counties having lands enrolled under the County Forest Law, s.28.10 [exit DNR] & 28.11 [exit DNR], Wis. Stats.

Eligibility

The person in the position qualifying for the grant must have a four-year degree in Forestry from an accredited Society of American Foresters university OR a bachelor’s or higher degree in natural resources, conservation or wildlife and 3 or more years of experience managing a county forest under ss. 28.10 and 28.11, Stats.

Deadlines

Application materials must be submitted by January 31 of each year.

How to apply

Application materials needed:

  • Annual County Forest work plan approved by county board and DNR
  • Projected salary and benefits for qualifying position for upcoming year
  • Financial documents confirming the previous year's salary and benefits
