Virtual Public Hearing for pending approval of six Waterway statewide General Permits
Date: 03/05/2026
Time: 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Location: Virtual
Crystal vonHoldt, Crystal.vonHoldt@wisconsin.gov
Pursuant to § 30.206, Wis. Stats., the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is noticing its intention to reissue three statewide waterway General Permits (WDNR-GP6-2026 for Fish & Wildlife Habitat Structures, WDNR-GP19-2026 for Permanent Boat Shelters in navigable waterways and WDNR-GP21-2026 for Waterway Crossings) and to issue three new statewide waterway General Permits (WDNR-GP26-2026 for Lakeshore Stabilization Structures, WDNR-GP27-2026 for Streambank Stabilization Structures and WDNR-GP28-2026 for Miscellaneous Structures in navigable waterways). Once in place, each permit will be valid for five years and will allow members of the public to apply for coverage under the permit. To qualify for a general permit, proposed projects must meet all eligibility criteria and permit conditions.
The DNR has determined that the reissuance and issuance of the listed statewide general permits have similar proposed actions in kind, scale and environmental setting to other activities under ch. NR 150.20(3)(a), Wis. Adm. Code, and will result in minimal adverse environmental impacts.
To view a copy of the proposed statewide general permits, visit the DNR website. The public comment period on the proposed statewide permits is open until the close of business on March 15, 2026.
