Habitat

Waterway protection

The habitats for all the living things in the surrounding areas of Wisconsin waters are protected by thick and diverse shoreline vegetation. Development and activities on the lakeshore, even small ones, changes the habitat for all those living things. It is for this very reason that Habitat Activities must be conducted with the utmost care.

Permit activities

Just as cumulative actions can harm the water's edge, cumulative actions can restore the shoreland and shoreline to help the habitat of living things in the surrounding areas. Preserving or planting shoreland buffers, managing aquatic invasive species, and even protecting the shoreline from erosion can have beneficial effects.
