Directory of Consultants

Often dam owners, dam operators, or property owners looking to complete a dam-related project or a project located in a regulated floodplain need to know where to seek technical assistance. The DNR Dam Safety and Floodplain Management Program maintains a directory of organizations that have conducted dam inspections, completed technical items related to dams, prepared engineering plans and specifications for dam and floodplain projects and/or completed hydrologic and hydraulic (e.g., floodplain) analyses.

Dams and Floodplain Consultant Directory

The purpose of this directory is to provide contact information for organizations that have completed dam and/or floodplain-related services in Wisconsin. It is not intended to, nor should it be construed as, DNR recommending a specific engineer or organization listed in the directory. Furthermore, this is not a complete list; additional qualified engineers and organizations are available in Wisconsin. The DNR neither endorses nor vouches for any of these firms or their work habits, practices or results. Moreover, the DNR shall not be liable for any mishap, poor workmanship or design, hardship, difficulty, delay or other misfortune experienced by someone who uses the services of an organization in the directory.

The Hiring an Engineer Factsheet provides information about how dam owners can contact, interview, check references, and hire a professional engineer to perform a dam safety inspection. However, much of the content applies to anyone inquiring about how to secure civil engineering services.

Additional resources for locating engineering consultants includes: American Council of Engineering Companies(ACEC) in Wisconsin.
